Cool, but never gonna be holding a tomahawk against a gun. They'll tell you to drop it before they get that close. Only weapons I believe ould work against a drawn gun have to be a surprise, like my cane, which I can strike a hand lightning quick standing 6' away with my cane at 8'. I move when I do it, and I gotta quick backup secondary, but if the first strike hits, its over for that hand. I can draw two large knives in a second flat for both. They are concealed and appear instantly ready. I can dual weld my cane with tomahawks too, and its lots of fun. I throw them into a huge old dead tree in the forest I practice in everyday. I got metal weighted paracord braids that hang from my bumb armored hat, I can whip a gun hand with. Got a bolo like necklace I can do the same with. I train hard everyday for no reason and develop myself to fight various weapons I can incorporate and use as multitools also. Got some cool and unique stuff going on. Im too old though. I wont ever sell any of it either probably, but I got an entire multiweapon system going on and it's powerful. I customize all my weapons to control them more powerfully, by using Constrictor Knots applied with spikes. So my EDC looks wicked cool and is wicked powerful for me. Tennessee allows any carry of any blade, including swords, cane swords. Spent my entire life fighting, Now Ill probably never be in a fight again. Of course, I refuse to be around other people, so its difficult to get in a fight. I usually carry everything out to the store just asI practice in the forest, except my canteen and tomahawks. So Im not even as likely to have the tomahawk with me or in hand. I do love tomahawks though, and I got plenty use for the heavy ones.

I enjoy this kind of stuff but let's get one thing said off the bat: the way fights are shown in film and TV is ONLY good for film/TV. If you have ANY type of firearm, your best bet is to stay back 2-3 steps from someone (assuming you're approaching them with the gun at the ready, pointed at center mass.) This is obviously most important when you notice they have some sort of melee weapon (knife, machete/sword, club, axe, etc.) That's because a firearm is a ranged weapon whereas the others are hand-to-hand weapons. If the other person has 2-3 steps to take to reach you with their weapon, that is PLENTY of time to get off a couple shots, at least. When you see people in movies, the assaulter will be within 1/2-1 step and have the gun on them and point blank. In that situation, it is much easier for the unarmed/melee person to close the gap and divert the muzzle of the gun away from themselves. Considering that almost all of my training is with firearms and defensive/escape, I have a hard time watching someone depict a 1-on-1 capture (where someone has a pistol trying to subdue the other). Most of the time, they show the person within 2-3" of the muzzle to the other person. Anyone with 15 seconds of training knows that this is the easiest to counter because of the way guns work. What I will say is that you won't always have a person attacking you with a gun so that is where melee weapons shine. If I'm in a fight, I want the fight to be as one-sided as possible. If they come at me empty-handed, you can bet your ass I'm getting my knife at the very least. If someone has a knife/club/axe, I'm going for my pistol and creating distance. If they have a gun, I'm waiting for my opportunity and unloading every single round in my mag before they figure out that I'm resisting. To hell with a fair fight, I want to live. If I want a fair fight, I'll go spar at the gym. Anywhere beyond that, I've got at least 2 knives, a pistol (with ~40 rounds in loaded mags) and a rifle in my armored backpack that I'm carrying.

+Bush Lore Survival Great review of what appears to be a great ruck. I agree with you about the civilian hiking and camping rucks. I use military rucks because the civilian hiking and camping rucks feel like flimsy tissue and are expensive in price, especially considering the quality of them compared to surplus. The frame on the ruck is very much like the very thick and heavy duty polymer frame on my U.S.G.I. MOLLE 2 large combat ruck ( not the first iterations, with flimsy polymer frames that were prone to breakage and rucks were in sections, where the sleep gear carrier was a component that had to be attached. Mine is the much better, upgraded, improved, and better kind in UCP/ACU Digital camo which is the ruck the U.S. Army uses now ). The frames are contoured much the same and the rucks attach to the frames in the same manner with the sleep gear compartment now built into the ruck system, which can be opened into a big ruck, much like this can, with heavy duty YKK zippers. Based on what I've seen, the capacities are very similar ( the U.S. Army MOLLE 2 is 4000 cubic inches main ruck that includes 2 large "sustainment pouches" of 500 cubic inches each, giving an extra 1000 cubic inches, which are part of the set and attach to the MOLLE webbing at the tops of each side, for 90 + liters. The MOLLE webbing on the Crossfire ruck seems to be significantly heavier than on my U.S. rucks [also own the U.S. Marine ILBE, also 90+ liters], which have MOLLE webbing more like the webbing on the pouches you have attached on the sides. I'm not sure of the denier weight, but they are both Cordura with a rubberized backing and sock collar with drawstring like this ruck, which gives you some degree of weather-proofing. Much better than civilian hiking rucks I've handled. I hadn't thought of the correlation of kinetic energy as it relates to the frame contour but, since I heard you mention it, it makes sense. I'm aware of the U.S. Army ruck frame contour being upgraded, improved, and curved to better fit with plate carriers but, since I wear chest rigs and tac vests, I hadn't thought of how it would sway with you. I like the large amount of internal organization ( like the mesh pockets ) the Crossfire has, something they should have built into U.S. military rucks. The large U.S. military rucks have sets of D rings to allow the addition and concurrent use of hydration bladders and bladder carriers and radio pouches ( I use the radio pouches, along with compression sacks and kit bags, plus the MOLLE webbing on the bladder carriers to add some more organization inside the rucks ). These seem to be very high quality, strong, heavy duty rucks. Are they what your military uses? Now that I am 47 years old, I don't load 80+ pound ruck loads, plus guns, mags, extra ammo, chest rigs, pistol belt, and so on. I do like having more than I need. I have these 2 large rucks, but don't own medium rucks ( except for the assault packs that clip onto the large main rucks, probably 25-30 liters each ). What do you prefer for mid-size military rucks, say 50 liters or so? I have been looking at mid-sized rucks and haven't seen a mid-sized ruck that has plenty of MOLLE plus internal organization in that size range that catches my eye. Anyway, I really enjoyed the review and the ruck, you have gained a subscriber
